Galle is a town situated in the south west, almost southern tip of Sri Lanka, 120 km from Colombo. Galle was at the height of its development in 1700s by Portuguese ruling. Galle is considered one of the best fortified cities European built in South and South East Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and south Asian traditions, and recorded as one of the World Heritage Site and the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European invaders. Ahangama & Midigama is home to a unique Silt fishing method by sitting on a slim pole providing very beautiful scenery during sunset. Ahangama is also a popular surfing location.
