| | | | Kōtō is a city (ward) of Tokyo, located in the east of Tokyo metropolitan, on the waterfront of Tokyo Bay sandwiched by Chūō and Edogawa. Its inland boundary is with Sumida. Much of the land is reclaimed, so there are few old temples or shrines. Koto’s noteworthy places include Fukagawa ward housing one of greatest Shinto shrines, Tomioka Hachimangu established in 1627, and is also Tokyo’s largest Hachiman Shrine, where sumo tournaments were held here during the Edo Era. One of the prides of the shrine is its “ichi-no-miya” mikoshi, the biggest one in the Kanto region, weighing 4 tonnes, decorated with diamonds, rubies and sapphires, and cost an astonishing one billion yen. Other worst-a-visit places e.g. Kameido Shrine, and Ariake. | | Hotel East 21 Tokyo: From US$ 150 - Koto, Tokyo The Hotel East 21 Tokyo is a full-fledged city hotel and the core of the high-tech city center of Tokyo East 21.
