About Lumut:
For sun and sea fun, start with Lumut, situated about 84 km south of Ipoh City. The best time to visit this calming little heaven is between the months of August and November when the Annual Sea Festival "Pesta Laut" is annually held. This fishing village is the departure point for to Pulau Pangkor. It is also the venue for the Pesta Laut or Sea Festival in Teluk Batik, Lumut, every August.
Perak carries the title of Darul Ridzuan, meaning the Land of Grace. It covers a total of 21,000 square kilometres and houses a population of roughly 2 million. Perak of long ago was famous for and prosperous due to its rich tin deposits.
It was from the local word for silver tin ore, that this state got its name, aas perak means silver. And it was this discovery of tin by Long Jaafar, that brought forth the influx of immigrants to the state. The capital of Perak is Ipoh, and Kuala Kangsar is its royal town.
